NEEDS TO BE FULL VIEWED!
I wasn't entirely sure what category to put this in as deviantart doesnt have an interior/architecture category. whatever.
I painted this for my character design class as an environment that I plan to put into my demo reel. The premis is as follows;
The throne hall of a once proud nation has been taken over by a rival force which has condemned the structure, but forbidden it's destruction. This is because the losers considered it more honourable to have their structures destroyed rather than ruled by others, so as a sign of insult and superiority the invading army stripped it of all ornaments and paintings, coated the floor with a red luminescence (seen as a curse) and lit the hall from the outside in a way that showed that the throne would forever be below the light and never be liberated.
Took forever as this is my first environment/interior/architecture painting. the WIP thread is here--->[link]
Your knowledge of lighting seems to have improved. It is a very technical piece well done on the perspective.
It is also a phalic centred piece as the arches form a giant penis and the throne is in fact at the base of this penis where the testicles are located. This is manly and demonstrates power.
Is the blue at the top meant to be a separat light source?
I feel compeled to comment again on the blue at the top. I feel it is creating a mixed atmosphere. The red indicates anger and strength and power to me and the blue is creating an airy happy light mood.
Descriptions bore the fuck out of me but having read it now it is clearer. I never know what to write because words usually fail to describe how I feel. Good story behind it tho manasaurus.
ye, i'm trying to flesh out the back story a little more, like put names to characters and places etc. hopefully add some depth to my demo reel.. i ordered my new workstation! but it wont arrive for another month....sad....
I don't know if I agree, I like the use of the opposing colours. It strengthens the back story and the importance of the red luminescent paint. The blue at the top is ghostly, as if the pride of the defeated nation still lingers in the hall, despite their defeat.

The idea of this contest is to set you up completely blind with a mythical being - from any world culture - and turn you loose to come up with a deviation based around it!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
